MAGICAL WILLOW MAINTENANCE

 We often get asked to repair living willow structures that have been neglected by schools. often schools don't have the time or expertise to repair their willow structures but want to keep them as they are so popular with the children.
The long tunnel in the pictures is a least 12 years old and was not planted by us. whoever did plant it used the worst possible willow variety, bowles hybrid, as it is horribly inflexible when trying to weave in new growth.
We had to do a severe haircut job on the tunnel to get it back into some semblence of its original shape but it will look great by early summer with its new growth.

LIVING WILLOW COURSE

 We are running our first Living Willow Course of the year today. We are weorking in our new willow garden at Gatebeck near Endmoor. Not a bad day weatherwise, a bit dampo but at least the ground is not frozen.
As we were amongst the first to use Living Willow our students have our vast experience to learn from.
Everyone is happy building a dome at the moment!

GIRL GUIDE WILLOW WORKSHOP

 last summer we worked with The Girl Guides at one of their summer camps in Kent. We were part of the activities on offer. As it was a totally outdoor event we were very lucky with the weather and only needed our gazebo in the afternoon when there was a massive downpour.

WILLOW WEAVING FOR SCOUTS, GUIDES and BROWNIES

 we have worked with quite a few groups in recent years running workshops for summer events. the picture is of a trefoil which is the logo of the Girl Guides. we made this clover leaf and some other sculptures on a one day workshop in Carlisle.

Willow Weaving at Country Shows

 This is a picture of one of the first woodland events i did at Chopwell Woods, County Durham for The Great North Forest. Sadly both GNF and the Chopwell Woods festival are no more, victims of government cutbacks.
We will be demonstrating at lots of shows throughout the country this summer.
