Breathing Spaces

Last weekend we were involved in 2 BBC Breathing Spaces projects. On Saturday were were at Blackpool running willow workshops at a refurbished park that had be designed by volunteers. Unfortunately the weather was really terrible - cold and wet, and hardly anyone attended the event.

On sunday we were at the BTCV managed Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park in London. The site is fantastic and really is a green breathing space in the heart of London. I saw a large dog fox as I was setting up our display and birds were happily singing all around in the willows and rushes. The weather was warm and sunny after a shakey early morning of heavy showers and thunderstorms.

We put up a willow display and ran fish weaving workshops. The event was very popular as it was part of the 50 year celebrations of BTCV (British Trust for Conservation Volunteers) and we were kept busy showing youngsters how to weave.
